Do You Hate Your Old Writing? Me Too

(Just to be clear about the title, I hate my old writing too, not your old writing)

So many times writers (me included) complain that we could have written something way better now. The unnecessary details, the tone, the words used, everything looks like it needs improvement. Or sometimes, there are even some POVs that you can't believe you missed the first time.

Well, to be honest, it is a wonderful sign. All it shows you is that you have grown as a writer and person. Now, you know a few things that the old you did not know. So, is that the end of today's post?

Of course, not! You have upgraded yourself. But, what about your content? Here is what you can do about it.

  • For Blogs
If it is a blog post, you can edit it and make it more relevant for today. It will also be helpful from a search rankings point of view. If it is for yourself, you can quickly make the changes. If it is for your client, you can ask them once and tell them here are a few ways you can make it better.

  • For social media
You can repost it. There are two ways to do that. Either you can point out the mistakes in your old content, or you can repurpose it and post it as new. Whatever suits you best. You can even create content highlighting things you have learned and make a tutorial on changing and improving the post.

  • For other content pieces
Now, when it comes to things like emails, or ad copies you have written, it is not possible to change the exact copy after months. But, you can definitely make the upgrades a part of your portfolio.

Let your growth reflect somewhere. It is important to keep track of your journey to see how far you've come. Make case studies for yourself to understand your work in detail. It benefits us as a writer, and also enhances our thinking process!
