AI is Good For Writers: Here's Why

The thought that AI will leave us, writers, jobless has crossed everyone's mind at least once. But, on giving it a second thought we come to know that we're not there yet, and most probably never will be.

The rise of ChatGPT created a massive frenzy. That was the first time, writers truly understood the power of AI. But it is as much a boon as it is a curse.

It has been some time since it was launched, and guess what? Writers are still here! But, we also need to acknowledge that to become a better service provider for clients, learning and understanding AI is important.

People advertise AI as a helper for humans, and that is exactly what I found it to be. AI is helping me enhance my skills. Here's how!

The infamous writer's block

How many times do you get stuck because the ideas are just not flowing in your head? Quite a few times I will guess.  So, what is better at that point? Staring at a blank screen or asking AI to write something for us?

I found the latter to be helpful. Even if I am not going to use what AI has written (I almost never copy-paste the content as is) it gives me ideas to jump-start my writing again. It gives me insights on different pointers I can add and some basic explanations on it.

That is enough for me to start thinking again. And I have come up with new and improvised value-adding content by working on AI-written content.

Why research when there is AI

Many times we have to write content that requires hours of research. It takes up a long time to get the deliverables ready. Moreover, more often than none we sometimes get lost in the rabbit hole while researching on the net.

But now, my first point of research is asking AI about the topic. Sometimes, that is enough. And whenever it is not, it has given me a direction to conduct research. It leaves more time to write and present the topic well.

Title suggestions

Titles for any topic can take up a lot of time. But, AI can provide you with titles in a matter of seconds. Now, granted titles with human touch are more engaging. However, a generic title beats no title any day of the week.

Pushes me to upskill me

There is nothing like the fear of losing your livelihood to ignite the passion to make yourself better :)
But, in all seriousness, it really has pushed me to upgrade myself. By using AI, I have more time on my hands to learn something new. I am learning how to leverage upcoming technology to do my job better.

Final words

There is much more you can do with AI. Instead of worrying ourselves sick about AI replacing us, working on upgrading ourselves to become irreplaceable seems to be the better solution.
